A man died and 10 more got hurt when a train ran off track on the Dhaka-Mymensing rail line in Gazipur. According to the fire service and railway authorities, the tracks were tampered with by unknown individuals. The man who passed away was named Aslam, a 35-year-old man who worked in the chicken business. He hails from the Gafargaon upazila of Mymensingh.
The Dhaka-bound Mohanganj Express train comprised seven coaches, including the engineer. It left the rails at Bankhuria around 4 AM, revealing Gazipur Fire Service’s Deputy Director Abdullah Al Arefin. He explained that the troublemakers had damaged the track’s rubber lining with gas cutters sometime during the night.
At the site, the fire service found a 12-kilogram gas cylinder hidden in the nearby woods, Al Arefin added. The event was confirmed by Joydebpur Junction’s deputy assistant (signal), Sirajuddin. He informed The Daily Star that vandals had damaged the railway tracks. These tracks are located close to the Bhawalgarh station on the north side of the junction.
