The National Consumer Rights Protection Department has fined two businesses a total of Tk 120,000 for selling eggs at inflated prices in Kishoreganj.
The crackdown took place on Monday (October 7) in Binnati Bazar of Sadar Upazila and Achmita Bazar of Katiadi Upazila. The operation was spearheaded by Hriday Ranjan Banik, the assistant director of the National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate’s Kishoreganj office, with the cooperation of the district’s livestock extension officer, AKM Siam Hossain, and members of the local Ansar battalion.

During the market monitoring operation, authorities found that several businesses were violating regulations, including selling eggs and other goods at prices higher than those set by the Department of Livestock. Al Madina Enterprise in Binnati Bazar was fined Tk 20,000, while another establishment in Achmita Bazar was fined Tk 100,000 for similar offenses, such as failing to display a proper price list, not keeping purchase and sale receipts, and selling goods above the government-fixed rates.
Hriday Ranjan Banik emphasized that these operations would continue to safeguard consumer rights and ensure that businesses adhere to fair pricing standards.
